Are you interested in using data and technology to solve Austin’s transportation challenges? Come to the first ever ATX Hack the Traffic event, co-hosted by the City of Austin Transportation Department and UT’s Center for Transportation Research.
We’ll have single-board computers, travel sensors, and gigabytes of travel-time data for you to experiment with. If you’re able to help us develop an open-source travel sensor, an awesome analytics tool, or beautiful visualizations, your work could be piloted on real-life Austin streets as part of Austin’s Smart City initiatives!
We welcome everyone from first-time hackers to industry experts, and we’ll have tasty local food and beverages to keep you going through the afternoon.
Developers, designers, analysts, and transportation enthusiasts, join us on March 4 at Galvanize Austin to #HacktheTraffic!

SXSW Interactive event:
“Every day, parking lots are full of empty cars, sitting idle, costing Americans trillions of dollars to own and maintain. Americans only utilize their cars about 5% of the time, yet cars represent a huge investment of our income. All of that is about to change, and it is the biggest economic opportunity in America. In addition, our roads will be safer, less congested and have lower pollution. Whether it is autonomous vehicles, connected technology, car sharing or ride sharing, we have begun a fundamental transformation of our transportation system. Join Allstate and other national leaders as we discuss the unprecedented alignment and cooperation required among private and public sectors.”
Panelists include former Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, Dr. Chandra Bhat of the University of Texas, and Don Civgin of Allstate Insurance
