Quick Facts on Mike Murphy
- Received a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from UT Austin (1998), an M.S. in the same discipline from Oklahoma State University (1982), and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the same university (1981)
- Has over 25 years’ experience in highway design, pavement design and evaluation, non-destructive testing, super-heavy load analysis, load zone analysis, and accelerated pavement testing
- Began work with TxDOT in 1983 in the Wichita Falls District as an Engineering Assistant and eventually supervised the Central Design Office
- During his tenure with TxDOT, acted as the Assistant Director of the Design Division—Pavements Section and retired in 2007 as the Branch Manager of the Construction Division—Pavements and Materials Systems Branch
