Empowering Mobility Through Big Data
The Center for Transportation Research applies cutting-edge data science, modeling, and analytics to improve safety, reduce congestion, and optimize transportation systems across Texas. From evaluating AI-driven incident detection tools and Waze-911 integration to enhancing crash analysis with precise weather data, our research turns complex data into actionable insights. These innovative projects help TxDOT and local partners make informed decisions that support safer, smarter, and more efficient mobility statewide.

About the Network Modeling Center
Researchers at the Network Modeling Center conduct a variety of research for an array of public- and private-sector sponsors. Some of our most consistent sponsors include the City of Austin Transportation Department, the TxDOT Austin and San Antonio districts, HDR, the North Central Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA).
NMC researchers value cross-departmental and inter-agency collaboration, and we are grateful to our long-term collaborators at the Texas Advance Computing Center (TACC), our colleagues and collaborators within the Cockrell School of Engineering and other UT departments, and with the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M.
