UT Honors Amit Bhasin with Teaching Excellence Award
Congratulation to Dr. Amit Bhasin for receiving a 2015-16 President’s Associates Teaching Excellence Award from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Bhasin, Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering, is one of only eight faculty members to receive this award this year. While these awards have been given since the 1980-81 academic year, Dr. Bhasin is the FIRST engineering faculty member to have ever received one.
President Fenves released the following statement regarding award recipients: “Each year, the President’s Associates Teaching Excellence Awards recognize great teaching of undergraduates in the core curriculum. These recipients are UT’s educational innovators whose commitment and performance not only instruct, but inspire.” One example of Dr. Bhasin’s innovative methods is the open-source virtual lab he developed for an undergraduate course on materials selection.
CAEE Department Chair Rich Corsi thanked Dr. Bhasin for inspiring undergraduate students, noting that “Your award is well-deserved and your efforts reinforce the importance that the CAEE community places on teaching our wonderful students.”
