Rajesh Paleti recipient of 2011 recipient of the Dr. Robert Herman Award
Rajesh Paleti, one of Dr. Bhat’s current PhD students, is the 2011 recipient of the Dr. Robert Herman Award to the Most Outstanding Student from the transportation graduate programs of UT Austin, Texas A&M, and Texas Southern University. This award is made by the Southwest Region University Transportation Center, funded by the US Department of Transportation (please see http://swutc.tamu.edu/aboutswutc.htm for more information). Selection to this award is based upon accomplishments in three areas: technical merit and research, academic performance, and professionalism and leadership. Evidence of research merit is based upon faculty nomination and evaluation of submitted written papers or reports. Academic performance is based on courses attempted and grades attained. Evidence of professionalism and leadership can be in the form of presentations at professional society meetings and symposia, and leadership in student professional activities.
Rajesh is scheduled to graduate in August 2012, and his PhD dissertation is entitled “On Integrating Models of Household Vehicle Fleet Composition and Evolution with Activity Based Travel Models for Improved Transportation Energy and Green House Gas Emissions Analysis”.
