UT Austin’s Transportation Program Ranked 9th Worldwide
In its annual assessment based on a range of subject areas, the Shanghai-based Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has ranked UT Austin at number nine in the world in the field of Transportation Science and Technology. Within the US, UT’s program is ranked second (after Berkeley) in the field of Transportation Science and Technology. The ranking is based on total number of publications, publications in top-tier journals, international collaborations in published papers, publication citation metrics, and awards.
While all rankings need to be taken with a grain of salt, the ARWU is increasingly viewed worldwide as one data point on the quality of programs, especially by potential graduate students. CTR and D-STOP are honored by this welcome result for our programs and our centers. We look forward to continuing along this path with our dynamic and cutting-edge scholarly and professional activities.
The ARWU is published by the independent ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. It covers a total of 52 subjects across natural science, engineering, medical science and social science. More than 4,000 universities appear in the rankings this year.
