FUTURE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN AUSTIN ON DISPLAY MARCH 16-17

Media and public invited to experience riding in a fully autonomous electric shuttle for the first time in Austin

What:    Capital Metro, along with transportation partners RATP Dev, McDonald Transit Associates, and UT Austin’s Center for Transportation Research, will provide a demonstration of an EasyMile EZ10 fully autonomous shuttle at The University of Texas at Austin. UT Austin was selected in January 2017 to be a USDOT-approved Autonomous Vehicle Proving Ground. Taking place during SXSW Interactive, the media and the public are invited to experience what the future of public transportation in Austin (and beyond) will look like. The 12-passenger EZ10 electric Mini-Bus Shuttle will run pre-determined routes within the parking lot of Sid Richardson Hall. CTR’s James Kuhr was interviewed by KUT on this event and also how autonomous vehicles will be changing the Texas transportation landscape; listen to the interview.
