Ferron and Saleh Promoted
CAEE Department Head Rich Corsi recently announced that two faculty members who work with CTR have been promoted, effective September 1, 2017: Navid Saleh to Associate Professor and Raissa Ferron to Associate Professor. Notes Corsi, “They are each wonderful colleagues and will be a big part of the future and success of our CAEE community.”
Dr. Ferron’s research expertise is in the areas of the rheology, processing, and fresh state micro/nano-structural characterization of cement-based materials. In addition to her recent promotion, she has also received the American Concrete Institute’s Young Member Award for Professional Achievement. Dr. Ferron earned her BS from Howard University, and MS and PhD from Northwestern University. Her current CTR projects are 0-6813, Evaluation of ASTM C 494 Procedures for Polycarboxylate Admixtures Used in Precast Concrete Elements, and 0-6895, Development of Low-Maintenance Cost Median Barriers with Enhanced Safety Features.
Dr. Saleh, an expert in nanomaterials, is the Research Supervisor of TxDOT project 0-6854, Engineering the Properties of Asphalt Mixtures Using Carbon Nanotubes. He leads the Sustainable Nano-Engineering for Water Treatment Lab, which focuses on design and development of novel and human-centered water treatment technologies. Dr. Saleh joined the UT Austin faculty in January 2014. He received his BS at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and his MS and PhD from Carnegie Mellon University.
