CTR’s student chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) once again sent a team to the Traffic Bowl competition—and once again won the district-level Traffic Bowl! The competition took place during the 2015 TexITE Spring Meeting in College Station on March 12. That means our team will go on to represent the Texas District in the international competition—for the second consecutive year—in Florida at the ITE 2015 Annual Meeting and Exhibit in August. Looking to defend the 2014 crown are team members Ben Wallach, Venktesh Pandey, Solomon Nyanhongo, and Rachel James (alternate). The team was led to victory at district by coaches Meredith Cebelak, a CTR Ph.D. student, and Dr. Mason Gemar, a CTR researcher. The Traffic Bowl involves demonstrations of traffic engineering and planning skills in a high-pressure Jeopardy!-style setting. The objective of the competition is to encourage students to become more active members of ITE, enhance their knowledge of the traffic/transportation engineering and planning profession, strengthen ITE student chapters, and foster a collegial spirit among our future engineers.
